NY Podiatrist Recalls Rabbi Slain in Jerusalem Synagogue Massacre
Almost every morning, Rabbi Aryeh Kupinsky would pray in a synagogue in Jerusalem that was popular with English-speaking immigrants from the West like himself. Born and raised in metro Detroit until he moved with his family to Israel around the age 10, Kupinsky learned early in his life the importance of worship. But on Tuesday, his daily ritual that helped bind him to God and the Jewish people was suddenly ended by two Palestinian cousins, who stormed in with meat cleavers, knives, and a gun. They killed him and four other worshipers.

Dr. Uriel Levi |
Former Oak Park resident Dr. Uriel Levi recalled the Kupinskys from Detroit and also from his time living in Israel when the family had relocated to Kiryat Arba, not far from Hebrona. He said the late Rabbi Kupinsky's father was also a rabbi. He taught at United Hebrew Schools. "I knew the family and I knew his older sister, Nechama. It means 'comfort' in Hebrew and that's what she has to do for her family," said Levi, a podiatrist in Brooklyn.

NJ Podiatrist Provides Winter Foot Care Tips
Despite the fact that your feet may be stuffed in boots or in closed-toed shoes during the cold winter season, taking care of your feet can prevent pain, fungal infections, and other foot-related issues. Dr. Alan Bass, a board-certified podiatrist has given us a few tips on how to keep your tootsies happy and healthy during the cold months and some over-the-counter treatment options to consider if foot related issues do occur.
|
Dr. Alan Bass |
"Check your feet daily for any cuts, sores, or cracked heels. If you have been running around in heels all day at work or just finished a long walk, it's important to check your feet for any signs of cuts, redness, or cracked heels. Make sure your feet are clean and dry daily. Fungal organisms love moisture so make sure to dry well even after a shower to deprive them of any dampness. Avoid using any moisturizers between each individual toe, which can also lead to wetness," says Bass.

TX Podiatrist Speaks on KWTX News About Diabetes Awareness Month
Dr. Roderick C. Hunter, Jr. recently spoke with KWTX Central Texas news correspondent, Nick Delgado about "Outsmart Diabetes", APMA's campaign for Diabetes Awareness Month. Hunter discussed the growing diabetic population in Texas, and the incidence of amputation because of the disease.
|
Dr. Roderick Hunter, Jr. |
Hunter highlighted the 7 key factors to help outsmart diabetes: 1. Inspect feet daily 2. Wear thick, soft socks 3. Exercise 4. Have new shoes properly measured and fitted 5. Don’t go barefoot 6. Never try to remove calluses, corns, or warts by yourself 7. Don’t let a lack of insurance stop you. Hunter spends Tuesday afternoons at the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine, and remarked on how frequently the ulcers he treats could be easily prevented.

NY Podiatrist Discusses HyProCure® on Radio Show
New York podiatrist, Dr. Jeffrey Adler and Dr. Michael Graham, inventor of HyProCure® treatment, were interviewed by well-known radio show host Laura Smith on NewsTalkRadio WABC 77. They discussed how the HyProCure® orthopedic medical device has revolutionized how doctors treat foot pain caused by misalignment.
|
(L-R) Dr. Michael Graham, Laura Smith, Dr. Jeff Adler |
The HyProCure® treatment is an outpatient procedure that uses a minimally invasive technique. During the procedure a titanium stent is placed into the naturally occurring space between the ankle and heel bones. The procedure is nearly pain-free, and patients walk at all times during healing.

Express Scripts Sued for Denying Payments for Compound Pharmaceuticals
Three pharmacies have sued Express Scripts, Inc. for violations of federal regulations in a scheme to deny payments for compound pharmaceuticals. The suit alleges that thousands of patients are being impacted by the scheme, according to Quadrino Law Group and The Simon Law Firm. The suit was brought in federal court in St. Louis on behalf of three compound pharmacies, two based in Texas and one in Louisiana. Express Scripts (ESI), based in St. Louis, is described as the largest U.S. claims administrator and fiduciary for health plan pharmacy claims.
According to the suit, Express Scripts has recently undertaken a scheme to reject all claims under health plans seeking payment for "compound" pharmaceuticals. These medicines are customized drugs made according to specific prescriptions written by doctors when there are no alternative medicines available that are either mass-produced or commercially made. Patients suffering from various conditions, diseases, and injuries benefit from these medications every day, according to the suit.
