Foot Shape Itself Can Cause Discomfort: OH Podiatrist
|
|
Dr. Carly Robbins |
Bad news: The natural shape of your foot can, in itself, cause discomfort. "If you have a really flat foot, you're going to strain the ligaments on the inside of your ankle. If you have a really high arch, then you're going to strain the ligaments on the outside of your ankle," explains Dr. Carly Robbins, a podiatrist in Marysville, OH. Blame this one on your parents, and then make sure you buy shoes with the right kind of support, like arch supports or custom orthotics.

CA Podiatrist Pleads Guilty to Healthcare Fraud
A Roseville podiatrist accused of carrying out a $1 million healthcare fraud scheme pleaded guilty Friday in federal court in Sacramento. Neil A. Van Dyck, 64, was a California-licensed podiatrist who operated a Roseville practice called Placer Podiatry. According to court documents, Van Dyck offered “spa-like” treatments and performed routine foot care in his practice. Between 2009 and 2014, he submitted more than $2.8 million in fraudulent claims for reimbursement to Medicare, Medi-Cal, Tricare, and private insurers. He falsely claimed that he performed more expensive procedures than he actually performed, or that the routine foot care provided was justified because of illness or symptoms that were not present.

From: J Kevin West, Esq
Recent announcements and publicity by the State of Vermont have misrepresented and mis-characterized the allegations against, and the settlement reached with, Frank Buggiani, DPM.
In early 2012, the State began a civil investigation of Dr. Buggiani, alleging that he was providing Medicaid patients orthotics that were not medically necessary. Medical and billing experts retained by Dr. Buggiani effectively refuted these allegations and the State failed to pursue them. Having failed to show that Dr. Buggiani’s prescribing of orthotics was in any way improper, the State turned to a technicality in Vermont Medicaid Regulations. Under this technicality, ...
