According to Conway McLean, DPM, "Malignant melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer, although thankfully it is not the most common. The appearance of a skin cancer can and does vary greatly. Certainly, some changes should raise the alarm. For example, when a spot of skin has different colors. Another is the development of varied textures or some prominence. Typically mentioned is one that’s changing or is visibly irregular in contour."

"The clear and obvious next step is a biopsy. Everyone has their favorite technique but, somehow, tissue must be obtained. A punch biopsy, using a sharp-edged tube, is one of the favorites of clinicians and pathologists alike. Tests allow us to identify cancerous cells with great accuracy. A biopsy, the procurement of a specimen from some structure, is a practice considered the standard of care for many decades," says Dr. McLean.

NY Podiatrist Explains the Difference Between Running Shoes and Sneakers
“Running shoes are often lighter and have less side-to-side control than traditional sneakers,” Samantha Landau, DPM, MPH, faculty member at New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM) in the Orthopedics & Pediatrics department — who is fellowship trained in gait-related disorders in the lower extremities for adults and children — told the New York Post.

“They are designed so one can run faster, jump higher, and perform better in a sprinting setting. As a result, a forefoot rocker is often seen in running shoes along with material that is very lightweight. You also want a shoe that bends only by the toes, where your foot is supposed to bend,” Landau adds. “A lot of newer, on-trend shoes bend in the middle of the foot where your foot is not supposed to bend.”

Defense Verdict for MO Podiatrist in Amputation Case
Facts: Reiner Kaschner sued defendants and its physicians in the wake of the 2016 ankle replacement in which a nerve block was used. Kaschner alleged he experienced thermal injuries from having his still-numb toes under a heater vent while being transported in a relative’s Jeep after discharge from the hospital. The resulting medical complications eventually led to the need for amputation of the man’s forefoot. In 2020, he would also undergo a below-the-knee amputation due to phantom pain issues.
While medical personnel warned Kaschner to keep his foot safe from injury or damage, plaintiff’s attorney William Wunderlich said the warning should have specifically covered possible injury from...

Six Back Office Billing Strategies
5) Conduct patient flow analyses regularly.
Time is money, and anytime there is a patient flow problem, it costs the practice. The office manager or practice manager should analyze patient flow for all services provided, find problems, and identify ways to streamline the processes. For example, you might perform a patient flow study. This will tell you how long it takes patients to complete the check-in process and be placed in the exam room. This will help you track and streamline processes at the front desk. A shorter check-in process can improve patient satisfaction and help keep providers from falling behind schedule.

RE: The Passing of Norman "Norm" M. Field, DPM
Dr. Norman (Norm) Field, 76, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023, after a valiant battle with lymphoma. Dr. Field earned his podiatric medical degree at the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine, moved to Georgia, and went on to found The Field Foot and Ankle Clinic in Griffin, which still exists today.
Dr. Field enjoyed a decade-long career in the Veterans Administration, where he rose to the Chief of Podiatry position at the Atlanta VA Medical Center, training dozens of residents in the process. Dr. Field is a past President of the Georgia Podiatric Medical Association.

Things are always on time, respectful of your time which is important for our busy lives. There's no entering codes or going to another website to attest your attendance (not sure why other organizations do this when allopathic and osteopathic events don't have this silliness).
