Medicare Payments to Doctors Paused as Government Shutdown Drags on
CMS is pausing Medicare payments to doctors, as negotiations tied to the government shutdown drag on. The agency announced the pause in a notice on its website but didn’t say when it would end.
It’s happening because Congress needs to reauthorize certain Medicare payment programs related to telehealth and rural providers, and that reauthorization has gotten wrapped up in the overall deal to reopen the government. It’s not clear why all physician payments are being cut off rather than just the programs that need to be renewed.

A delegation of NYCPM faculty participated in the 7th iteration of an International seminar partnering NYCPM/Touro University and the Podiatry College which is part of the National University of Ireland (NUI) in Galway.

The partnership among other things includes faculty and student exchanges; shared research, and a series of academic seminars alternating between Ireland and the U.S. At this year's program, over 250 international podiatrists attended from a multitude of countries.

It was offered in partnership with Lander’s College of Nursing, Health Sciences and Human Performance, and the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce.

A Swindon hospital is celebrating the work of podiatrists in dealing with foot conditions. Great Western Hospital (GWH) praised its team of more than 500 Allied Health Professionals (AHPs), including podiatrists, for their expertise in managing lower limb conditions.

RE: The Passing of Joan McGough, DPM
Dominican Sister of Peace, Sister Joan (Sr. John Marie) McGough died at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH on October 10, 2025. Sister Joan was a registered nurse at Braddock General Hospital before she entered the Dominican Sisters. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Ohio Dominican College (now Ohio Dominican University) and a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. She served in healing ministries as a nurse and as a podiatrist in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Ohio.
