BUSPM Forms Partnership with PCC to Offer Alumni Benefits
Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine (PCC) has entered into an partnership with Podiatry Content Connection (PCC), a podiatry-only online marketing group, to open up special pricing programs to Barry University alumni. PCC has pledged to make monthly donations to the University’s podiatry program, based on the total number of alumni who take advantage of PCC’s programs.

PCC has an excellent track record supporting podiatric medical schools. Faster Treatment of DFUs Saves Limbs: IN Podiatrist
The sharp uptick in patients seeking limb-saving wound treatment in Bartholomew County is due, in large part, to “the increase in patients with diabetes, the increase in patients with peripheral arterial disease, and unfortunately, the American lifestyle, diet,” said John Hladik, DPM, a Columbus Regional Health podiatrist.

The influx of patients prompted officials at the wound center to launch the CRH Limb Preservation Program last month, said Hladik, who is the program’s medical director. “Our community has a high number of diabetics, and a large number of people with peripheral arterial disease, and this seems to be a trend worldwide as well,” Dr. Hladik said. “We’ve seen over the years that the quicker these folks get treated, the more limbs we save,” Hladik said.

Choose a Running Shoe with an Arch Support: NY Podiatrist
Whether your runs always end with cramped arches or you simply want to ensure your feet are properly supported throughout a workout, it’s time to start considering a running shoe with arch support. “Arch support equals shock absorption,” New York-based podiatrist Hillary Brenner, DPM, tells Health. “And everyone can use that.”

“Pick up a pair of shoes and make sure the shoe does not bend in half,” explains Dr. Brenner. This two-step test includes attempting to fold the shoe like a burrito in both directions. Next, she recommends making sure there is “thickness in the arch” because this generally gives the foot more support. Finally, the shoe should have a wide, chunky heel to maximize the support.

The daily grind of seeing patients can sometimes be, well, grinding. It’s important to take a step back and reconsider how you do things. There’s likely another way to achieve the same, if not better, result, especially when it comes to staffing. Here’s a sample of what 943 practice owners, managers, and physicians say has helped them create a better environment.
6. When it comes to staffing and high-demand positions such as certified medical assistants, have affiliation agreements for schools in your area with a medical assisting program. Allow students to do their internships at your practice, as this gives you the opportunity to see how they adopt and work within the office setting. Give and receive feedback from the school's program director. This is a win-win situation.
