Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare (GVMH) has welcomed podiatrist Arthur Evensen, DPM. Dr. Evensen earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Midwestern University Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency with Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle credential (PMSR-RRA) at the Southern Arizona Veterans Affairs Health Care System, where he served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Evensen was recently honored by the Veteran Hall of Fame Society with the Outstanding VA Employee award, becoming the first podiatrist ever to receive this national recognition. FL Podiatrist Cycles and Runs the “Nation’s Highest 10K Race”
Matt Werd, DPM just returned to sea level after competing in the highest and hardest one-day mountain bike race in the country - The Leadville 100 Mountain Bike Race – which is considered by some as the SuperBowl of mountain biking. It is a 105-mile off-road race starting at 10,000+ feet elevation, topping out above 12,500 feet above sea level.

2. Clearly define your scope of care online
Patients should know exactly what services you do and do not offer. Ambiguity in website descriptions or marketing materials can lead to mismatched expectations — and potential claims if a patient believes you promised something you didn’t deliver. I am retired, but I recall a seminar many years ago, including treatment for verruca. A discussion following the presentation included podiatrists claiming what was their success rate. It sounded like an auction with each person claiming a higher success rate. Do I hear 75%, 85%, 95% now 99.7%. Times have not changed that much. Does anyone really believe that someone has a 95 to 99% success rate treating verruca?

I read "Our House is On Fire!" (June/July 2025). I am wondering if anyone has addressed the elephant in the room which is that if the numbers are going down, then why in the past five years have new podiatry schools opened? LECOM opened their podiatry school in 2022 and UTRGV opened theirs in 2022 as well. If the numbers were low to begin with, why dilute the dwindling applicant pool further by adding more seats to fill? If our house is on fire, we lit the match ourselves.
