Children’s Feet Should Be Measured Regularly: Robertozzi
But, before moms and dads invest in footwear for their little ones, some fundamental foot factors should be considered. American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) President Dr. Christian Robertozzi stresses the importance of measuring your child's feet every time you shop for new footwear.
|
Dr. Christian Robertozzi |
"Children's feet grow so rapidly as they age. That's why it's so important to have their feet measured regularly," said Dr. Robertozzi. "Shoes that don't fit properly can lead to foot ailments as minor as a blister to as debilitating as a deformity."

Retired CT Podiatrist to Run For Mayor in New Milford, CT
Democrats rejoiced this week that they will be fielding a mayoral candidate who they believe will mount a solid challenge to Republican Mayor Patricia Murphy. Their candidate is a retired podiatrist who for the last four years has been a respected Board of Education member known for his quick wit and outspoken advocacy for the school system. In a last-minute surprise before the Democratic caucus at the Richmond Citizen Center, 66-year-old Larry Stillman said he is ready to challenge Murphy, who is seeking a third term for the two-year post. "I just couldn't see her (Murphy) running unopposed," Stillman said. "Does she have a sense of humor? We'll see."

Stillman's announcement was greeted with hugs, handshakes and two standing ovations from about 50 Democrats. Democratic Town Committee Chairman John Lillis, also a Town Council incumbent seeking re-election, was equally enthusiastic. "I want you all to know how happy I am to have such an outstanding candidate for mayor," Lillis said. "He's been an advocate on the Board of Education for the schools and children and he will now be an advocate for the entire town.' "He'll run a tough, issue-oriented campaign, and I think he has an excellent chance to unseat the mayor,' Lillis said.
As Stillman's name was formally announced to the caucus as the Democratic Town Committee's nominee for mayor, Finance Board member Shelly Pruss -- who was the party's mayoral candidate in 2003 -- shouted from the back of the room, "Give em' hell, Larry.' With that, Stillman took center stage. He quipped that Pruss' cheer was one captured by late President Harry Truman who declared he would do just that to Republicans, "and they're going to learn to love it.' The 45-year resident, who has four adult children and two grandchildren, said he will run a "hard-hitting, clean, fair, but intense campaign.

RESPONSES / COMMENTS |
RE: PM News Marks Issue #3,000 From: Howard Lazar, DPM
Barry Block has one of the best tight-rope balancing acts ever seen. He publishes readers' clinical queries, tips and responses, as well as political commentary. It is obvious, after 3,000 editions of PM News, that he has a personal agenda. He intends to give everyone with a reasonable argument, on either side of a question, a forum on which to present it. As a podiatrist, he has his own political opinions about what this profession is, what it can become, and how best to get there. Yet he never lets his opinions, or his publisher's prerogatives, bar or alter any reader's reasonable comments. He has, to my certain knowledge, refused to be bullied into excluding advertising and commentary that present antiestablishment points of view. There is a phrase with which all lawyers are familiar: "reasonable minds can differ." It is obvious that Barry's publishing is based on that rubric. The only criticism I can make is that he occasionally closes a topic, in my opinion, a bit too early, when it appears that more reader contribution can be anticipated. Still, none of us know just how much material he has to sift through to put together this wonderful daily forum. He has provided us all with something not available anywhere else: a fair, unbiased political forum and clinical resource with a short response time. He is probably the least biased of all publishers of news. He has my deep admiration and respect. Howard Lazar, DPM, Bloomfield Hills, MI howardlazar@comcast.net
