HEALTHCARE INSURANCE NEWS |
ACA Premiums Set to Spike in 2026
With plenty of policy questions still up in the air, a new report suggests insurers are set to propose steep premium increases for Affordable Care Act (ACA) plans in 2026. Researchers at Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) examined early filings from 105 insurers in 20 markets, including 19 states and the District of Columbia, and found that the medium premium increase proposed for next year is 15%. The median premium increase for 2025 was 7%, according to the report.
While these filings are preliminary and can change, the analysts said payers are pointing to a complex policy environment that makes reversing course from large increases unlikely. For instance, the enhanced premium subsidies put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic are set to expire at the end of this year, barring an intervention from Congress that doesn't seem to be coming. These tax credits drove record-breaking enrollment on the exchanges, and KFF estimates that this alone will increase out-of-pocket premium expenses for members by 75% in 2026.

PRACTICE MANAGEMENT TIP OF THE DAY |
5 Ways AI is Reshaping Private Practice
From ambient transcription to smart scheduling, AI is helping doctors cut costs, save time, and improve care. Here’s where it’s making the biggest difference — and what to consider before you invest.
3. Enhancing virtual care.
AI is expanding the impact of telehealth beyond video calls. Virtual waiting rooms now offer personalized content, while AI assistants handle connectivity issues before the doctor arrives.
More advanced tools make use of webcam data to assess vitals like heart rate and body temperature. These enhancements help practices extend quality care — even from a distance.

FINANCIAL TIP OF THE DAY |
7 Essential Investing Rules We All Should Know
Here are seven essential rules every investor should know. They may not turn you into a billionaire, but they just might help you build the future you want.
3. Time in the Market Beats Timing the Market
The goal is to buy low and sell high, but trying to predict when to do that consistently? Nearly impossible. In fact, some of the best market days tend to occur right after the worst. Wells Fargo found that over 30 years, the 30 biggest up days and 30 worst down days for the S&P 500 often happened close together.
"Let sleeping dogs lie is one of my favorite principles as it relates to investing," says Thomas Van Spankeren, principal and chief investment officer at Rise Investment Management. He explains investors can buy, sell, or hold. It's holding that is often the most advantageous, even though it feels like doing nothing. "Lasting wealth is created in the long game."

OBITUARIES - PART 2 |
RE: The Passing of Kenneth L. Bradshaw, DPM
Dr. Kenneth L. Bradshaw, 81, of Clinton passed away July 7, 2025. He was surrounded and survived by his wife, Janice and her three children, Holly, Scott, and John. After graduating from the University of New Mexico and wanting to serve, he went off to Marine Corps OCS while his now brother-in-law, H.R., went to Naval flight training in Pensacola, Florida. Kenn was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in 1967 and went directly to Vietnam.
|
Dr. Kenneth Bradshaw |
At the end of his service to the Marine Corps, he returned to the states. Once home, he recalled the severe foot problems he and other Marines developed and decided to become a Doctor of Podiatry. He graduated from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine and served his residency at the Leavenworth, Kansas V.A. hospital.

RESPONSES/COMMENTS (QUICK POLLS) |
From: John Lanthier, DPM
I’ve had less-than-positive experiences with financial planners throughout my career. My first two planners unfortunately caused significant financial losses, which was deeply upsetting, though thankfully, our profession allows us to recover. We can always wake up to get to work and make more if we stay healthy. They will lose money without compunction, shame, or sense of responsibility.
I've now settled on a new planner, and I closely monitor his work and the portfolio. While the results have been good so far, I currently invest three-quarters of my earnings myself and only allocate one-quarter to him. This is due to my enjoyment of personal investing and, frankly, a general lack of trust in the financial planning community, as I'm sure many of us have stories of being disadvantaged.
