IL Podiatrist Makes Multiple Medical Missions to Mexico
About one child in every 55,000 live births is born with an ankle deformity, something that podiatrist Dr. Paul Bishop of the Foot and Ankle Centers in Yorkville and Morris is working to fix. As a leader at the Chicago Lower Extremity Surgical Foundation (CLESF), he and several other doctors make multiple trips to Mexico throughout the year, to perform reconstructive surgeries on children and adults, in many cases helping them to take their first steps.

Bishop first became involved in the CLESF about 10 years ago, after completing a fellowship with Dr. Edgardo R. Rodriguez, co-founder of the CLESF. “After I was doing my training with Dr. Rodriguez, he invited me on board at the foundation...ever since then, we’ve been going from once to even three, four, or five times a year,” he said.

GA Podiatrist Joins Village Podiatry
Village Podiatry Centers has announced that Cheree Eldridge, DPM has joined its practice. Dr. Eldridge earned her doctorate at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in New York, NY. She completed her residency at the Atlanta Department of Veterans Affairs.

Last year, Dr. Eldridge started her own mobile practice, Eldridge Podiatry and Diabetes Center LLC, in which she travels to multiple states treating patients. She is licensed in Georgia, as well as Kentucky, Iowa, and Pennsylvania. She is board qualified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine, as well as on the Board of Directors for Georgia Podiatry Medical Association.

CA & NY Podiatrists Part of Diabetes Award-Winning Team
Autonomous_ID, a Canadian-American tech company and clinician researchers from the Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California shared in an award focusing on global innovation in Diabetes. Their program, called “Smart Sole Salvation” won the Global People’s Choice Award. It is a combination of multiple technologies designed to foster improved activity while also identifying potentially limb-threatening complications of diabetes.

The University’s researchers included Dr. David G. Armstrong, Professor of Surgery and Director of the Southwestern Academic Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA) and Charles Liu, Professor of Neurological Surgery and Director of Keck’s Neurorestoration Unit. Dr. Wilma Hunt-Watts serves as an advisor to Autonomous_ID.

I have two identical digital x-ray systems and dropped the support about a year ago. I have had no issues with the x-ray hardware or software. I have had an occasional communication problem between the acquisition computer and server when Windows installs automatic updates, but this has been rectified every time by simply restarting the server which I run full time.

I have had software issues associated with my imaging software. The unit and server are only a year old. Magically, at around the one year mark (when the warranty for the software expires), there is an issue with the server that requires occasional phone calls to support. Unfortunately, only by calling them will the issue be fixed and they have been unable to explain the reason the issue continues to re-appear. I find it unusual and coincidental that there is a software glitch that only they can fix. For a device that costs that much money, the support should be included, or at least bug-free.
