Epsom Salts Soaks May Help Mild Ingrown Toenails: NJ Podiatrist
While an ingrown toenail may not sound like an emergency, it's important to have it looked at in the event that you notice any early signs or symptoms. "Many people believe that ingrown toenails simply cause discomfort. But they can be the cause of infections," New Jersey-based podiatrist Velimir Petkov, DPM tells Allure.

While it's best to leave treatment of an ingrown toenail to a healthcare provider, some milder cases may benefit from certain home remedies in the meantime, such as an Epsom salt foot bath. "This will soften your skin and reduce any inflammation," Dr. Petkov told Allure.

IL Podiatrists Expand Free Foot Care Clinic
Horizon Health is expanding its free Foot Care Clinic to assist more individuals who need access to routine healthcare. In recognition of Holy Thursday, the event will take place April 6. Brittany Wojnicki, DPM and Philip Holloway, DPM, podiatrists, will be washing feet, trimming nails, and making referrals for further care, if needed. Each participant will receive a new pair of shoes and socks.

Last year, Drs. Wojnicki and Holloway provided free foot care to nearly 50 residents of the High Rise. This year’s goal is to serve many more people and include the community as a whole,” said Dr. Wojnicki.

It is this uncertainty that has led OrthoNebraska to add podiatry services, making for a more comprehensive and complete foot and ankle care team. Podiatrists Jeffrey Kiley, DPM and Andrew Stanislav, DPM will join OrthoNebraska’s foot and ankle team in April.

Dr. Kevin Thomas is a graduate of Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine and completed his surgical residency at Miami VA Medical Center in Florida. Dr. Trina Monis is a graduate of the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine and completed her surgical residency at Staten Island University Hospital in New York and Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in Chicago, IL.

No-Nonsense Virtual Podiatry Seminar Sets Attendance Record
Attendance records were set at the recently held No-Nonsense Virtual Podiatry Seminar powered by lerEXPO with over 588 attendees and an approval rating of 4.89 out of 5 stars from over 400 surveys returned. There were over 29 hours of lectures for up to 25 CECH and 2 MOC. This year, an App and YouTube stream was made available for those clinicians who needed mobile access.

No-Nonsense Virtual Podiatry Seminar |
The faculty included Drs. Brian Loder, Windy Cole, Jim McGuire, Mark Hardy, Mark Solomon, Patrick DeHeer, Jeffrey Lehrman, Mark Mendeszoon, Dan Waldman, Suhail Masadeh, Krupa Patel, Asim Raja, Amana Meszaros, Tracey Vlahovic, William Scherer, Alton Johnson, Duane Ehredt, Jengyu Lai, and Matthew Regulski. Two roundtable discussions with vascular surgeons and endocrinologists and a session with a rheumatologist were held. Topics included biomechanics, forefoot, midfoot, and rearfoot surgery, wound care, MIS, dermatology, billing and coding, gout, and orthobiologics.
