Sarah Sweeney, DPM, a 39-year-old podiatrist, met an untimely death from a drug overdose in suburban St. Louis, raising alarms and prompting investigations. Found in her fiancé’s home, her death echoed a hauntingly similar tragedy that occurred years prior. This incident has thrust the local community and law enforcement into a whirlwind of speculation and inquiry regarding the circumstances leading to her demise.

The Frontenac Police Department, spearheading the investigation, is meticulously piecing together the events that led to Sweeney's death. Amidst their probe, the shadow of a similar tragedy looms large, drawing parallels and raising questions about patterns and possible connections between the two incidents.

President of Iceland Addresses Global Podiatry Summit
His Excellency Gudni Th. Jóhannesson, President of Iceland, addressed the Global Podiatry Summit in Reykjavik. The President received the “Friend of the Foot Award” from the International Federation of Podiatrists (FIP) for his advocacy of public health, sports, and exercise. He thanked podiatrists for keeping the world on its feet.

The Global Podiatry Summit was held in Reykjavik Iceland from March 3-6 and was attended by 400 podiatrists from 31 countries. The Summit highlighted several global perspective sessions which examined the similarities and differences in podiatric practice among the nations.

Extremit-Ease® Compression Garment by AMERX Health Care, recently received approval from PDAC for code A6583, one of the 78 new codes issued under the NEW Lymphedema Treatment Act (LTA). Passed by Congress in December of 2022, this new policy went into effect January 1st, 2024, and now provides coverage for patients seeking compression garments and supplies to help manage their lymphedema. Studies show the Extremit-Ease Compression Garment is well received by patients, with compliance and extended wear time.

Query: Source for Legally Required CECH in Illinois?
I practice in the State of Illinois. As I understand it, there are several legally required CECH to maintain licensure in Illinois. These are 1) Implicit bias training, 1 hr. 2) Sexual harassment prevention training, 1 hr. 3) Cultural competency training, 1 hr. 4) Mandatory reporter training, 5) Opioid training, 3 hrs. 6) Alzheimer’s/dementia training, 1 hr.
I would like to know who is providing this training, because I do not want to wait until the last moment to obtain it.

I am currently evaluating 4 AI scribes for some upcoming lectures that I have coming up. I just went live yesterday in the office. There are many differences between the products. Patient acceptance has been at 100% to sign a consent. I am helping one malpractice carrier write their protocols.
I have been a speech user since the '90s with Dragon. The results far surpass Dragon with accuracy, depending on the product. I am beta testing products and reporting errors/issues to the programmers. There are several ways to actually use this technology and many EHR companies are coming to market now with their own integration. Please reach out anytime with questions.

Dr. Richard Blake was the biomechanics fellow at CCPM when I was a 2nd year student. Many runner-students in our Class of 1983 helped Dr. Blake make his inverted orthosis in the early years of development of this device. Three years later, I became the CCPM biomechanics fellow and used my positive experience with the Blake Inverted Orthosis to invent the medial heel skive technique, which also produces a varus-shaped heel cup in a custom foot orthosis as does the Blake Inverted Orthosis. Either of these orthotic devices can be used effectively to treat patients with pronation-related foot and lower extremity pathologies.
In regards to the relative lack of biomechanics and foot orthosis therapy knowledge in today's younger podiatrists, I have been commenting and trying to raise an alarm to the podiatry profession on this problem for the past two decades.
