NYCPM to Join Touro University’s Family of Health-Related Institutions
With a full-page ad in the Wall Street Journal on March 1, 2022, Touro College announced that it is now Touro University. The New York State Board of Regents has voted to amend Touro College and University System’s charter to change its designation. “Attaining university status is a recognition of Touro’s advanced academic standing,” noted Joel Sturm, NYCPM’s Chief Operating Officer.

In the ad, Touro University announces that it “looks forward to proudly welcoming” four academic institutions, including NYCPM, to its expanding universe. NYCPM will join with other prominent institutions in New Mexico, Montana, and Illinois. Touro currently has 35 undergraduate colleges, including a number of health-related schools, including New York Medical College, and colleges of osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, dental medicine, and health sciences.

The American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) topped attendance and exhibitor records again! The largest number of foot and ankle surgeons from around the world took over Austin, TX to help progress patient care at the 80th Anniversary Annual Scientific Conference of the College.

5 Mistakes to Avoid When Texting Patients
Some of the highest-quality healthcare strategies nowadays include remote components and patients are increasingly wanting to communicate with their providers via text messages. While texting can make things a lot easier (and more profitable), it can also be easy to unknowingly violate HIPAA regulations. Be sure to not make these five common mistakes.
1. Texting from a Non-Secure System
Patients and providers want to be able to text each other, but it can be unsafe to exchange sensitive information from just any old device. You will always want to avoid communicating with patients on a personal smartphone, or on a system where their information isn’t encrypted and can be accessed or intercepted. Additionally, patients don’t want to download a separate app or log into a specific portal to ask questions or get updates—they just want to text you.
To text patients securely, you can implement a HIPAA-compliant text messaging platform that maintains government privacy and security standards. A secure channel ensures that information is encrypted at every level, from physician to patient. Without a secure platform, you leave valuable patient information at risk.

Just to be clear, the mRNA vaccines developed for COVID-19 do not inject the spike protein into the body. mRNA directs the host cells to express the spike protein which then elicits a vigorous humoral and t-cell response.

I read Dr. Cassidy's post and I just wanted to point out that this is not how MRNA vaccines work. They induce the body to form the spike protein which is harmless. The spike protein is expressed on our own cells and triggers our body to form antibodies. The spike protein is not "hidden," and does not cross any barrier by itself as it is attached to cells.
This is not to discount vaccine-related injuries, because there may be many. Further study is needed on this topic. I am by no means a biochemistry expert, but for those who are, please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
