APMWA Announces 36th Annual Student Writing Competition
The American Podiatric Medical Writers Association (APMWA) has announced its 36th Annual Student Writing Competition.
-
All papers MUST be non-technical in nature. Appropriate subjects include practice management, ethics, law, education, healthcare, or any topic that would be suitable for a lay publication.
-
There is no word limitation. Papers will be graded for content, style, grammar, neatness, and overall impact.
-
First prize one thousand dollars ($1,000), Second prize seven hundred and fifty dollars ($750) Third prize five hundred dollars ($500) sponsored by an APMA Educational Foundation endowment from Dr. and Mrs. Steven Berlin, and recognition in the APMA NEWS and the APMWA Newsletter. Honorable Mention Certificates may also be awarded.

Jacob Dougherty, DPM has joined the Christus Trinity podiatry team in Longview, TX. Dr. Dougherty received his undergraduate degree at Kansas State University before earning his doctorate of podiatric medicine from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine.

I read Dr. Tiffany Hodgson’s reasoning and her request to be paid for diagnosing a hammertoe and callus of the 4th toe while giving a neuroma injection.
In my opinion, the Dr.’s thinking they should be paid for this service is why insurance companies and patients are losing trust in doctors. If this was a private pay patient would you really have the patient pay for this? I sincerely doubt it and if you did, they would probably never come back and write a terrible Yelp review.

I will miss Dr. Barry Jacobs. He was a wonderful podiatrist. I learned much from him. He was the Assistant Residency Director when I was there in Hot Springs, SD as a resident. I saw him at subsequent seminars and we had great conversations. Condolences to his family.
