PRACTICE MANAGEMENT TIP OF THE DAY |
Managing Cash-Handling at Your Medical Practice - Part 5
When it comes to money handling, you can never have too many fail-safe protocols in place. The most important thing to remember is to never allow cash to be too accessible to staff. Here are some ways you can protect your cash by creating solid accounting processes:
5. Final confirmation: Check your bank account online
By viewing the record of the deposit, you will be able to confirm that the amount you sent is the amount that made it into your account. If there is a discrepancy, it's time to backtrack through the steps and find out where the money went.

RESPONSES/COMMENTS (CLINICAL) |
From: David Secord, DPM
The use of any drug can be fraught with potential liability, so adequate information should be given to the patient beforehand and documented as such. According to the folks at Novartis (makers of Lamisil), there have been something like 23+ million prescriptions for this antifungal so far and a total of 9 cases of fulminant hepatic failure attributed to the medication in light of no other confounding factors as a possible etiology.
I have had a general lack of good luck throughout my life and those who know me would testify to that. In line with that black cloud over my head, it was inevitable that one of those patients developing fulminant hepatic failure from taking Lamisil would occur in my office. At one point, ...

RESPONSES/COMMENTS (>) |
From: Doug Richie, DPM
There are many factors to consider when prescribing a brace to treat foot drop conditions. Proximal stability, global muscle function, tri-plane deformity, footwear requirements and lifestyle must be evaluated and considered when prescribing an AFO for your patient. There is no single brace which can address all foot drop conditions, but there is a brace which is likely best for your specific patient. My company has a variety of AFO braces which can address the variety of clinical presentations associated with foot drop.
Disclosure: Dr. Richie is Founder and President at Richie Technologies Inc. and the inventor of the Richie brace.
