Jogging Beats Walking for Weight Loss: MD Podiatrist
If you’re debating walking vs. jogging for weight loss, here’s the good news: exercise experts say either one is a great form of exercise. Whether you prefer a brisk walk around the neighborhood or a nice long jog, both options are good for your cardiovascular health and your mental health. “I always start by saying that walking is one of the most accessible, low-impact activities out there,” says Mikel Daniels, DPM, a board-certified podiatrist and the Chief Medical Officer at WeTreatFeet Podiatry. All you need is a pair of shoes, and if you’re walking outdoors, clothing suitable for the climate. You can walk around your neighborhood, a local park, or even indoors—mall walking is popular for a reason! You can also walk on a treadmill or walking pad.

If weight loss is your primary goal, jogging will help you shed pounds more efficiently. “Running builds endurance, strengthens bones, and can help with weight management more efficiently than walking,” says Dr. Daniels. “This is an essential, especially if you’re short on time.” Daniels suggests that you keep yourself motivated by finding something that brings you joy. “Whether it’s a scenic park, a favorite playlist, or walking with a friend, make it something that you want to do, and have a reward for doing it (like a smoothie!)”

Photography Magazine Extra has Named Ujjwal Datta, DPM as the winner of the Milky Way Photographer of the Year 2025 Award. It was Ujjwal's fervent enthusiasm and passion that shone brightly amidst the sea of contenders. This vibrant spirit was in large part instrumental in guiding his choice as winner.

Dr. Datta, a podiatrist with over 25 years of experience, turned to astrophotography in 2019. What started as a hobby soon became a passion, with the Milky Way being his primary focus. After personal loss, he found healing in the stars, calling it “star therapy.” Despite a busy medical practice, Dr. Datta continues to hone his skills, traveling, and attending workshops to deepen his craft.

Awards Presented at 4th Annual MILES Symposium
The 4th Annual Methodist International Lower Extremity Symposium (MILES), presented by Methodist Hospital, concluded with the presentation of awards recognizing excellence in the field of lower extremity reconstruction. Patrick R. Burns, DPM received the MILES Award of Excellence in Diabetic Lower Extremity Reconstruction, honoring his groundbreaking contributions to advancing care for patients with complex diabetic lower extremity conditions. Shrunjay R. Patel, DPM, was presented with the Thomas Zgonis, DPM, FACFAS Fellowship Award of Excellence in Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgery, recognizing his leadership and commitment to innovation in reconstructive surgical techniques. Both awards were presented by Dr. Zgonis, MILES Founder and Scientific Chair, who commended the recipients for their dedication to improving patient outcomes and advancing the field.

The 4th MILES event, held December 11-13, 2025, at La Cantera Hotel in San Antonio, Texas, also featured the 3rd Annual HCA Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency and Fellowship Summit, bringing together participants from across the country. The symposium showcased a multidisciplinary national and international faculty specializing in diabetic lower extremity reconstruction, plastic surgery, and external fixation, solidifying its reputation as a premier event for cutting-edge education in lower extremity care.

It is with profound sadness that we pass on the tragic news of the untimely passing of an NYCPM student, Tanya Vohra, following a valiant and heroic battle with a horrible illness. Tanya was a member of the class of 2026, an important member of the NYCPM student community, and was set to graduate along with her classmates in May of this year.

6) Ask one meaningful question, then act on it
The fastest way to make “we appreciate you” feel hollow is to ask for feedback and do nothing with it. If you want appreciation to stick, pair it with one concrete improvement.
For healthcare settings, burnout and retention are linked to organizational factors, not just individual resilience. The CDC notes that workplace supports and organizational changes can help prevent burnout.
Try this: Ask: “What’s one change that would make your day 10% easier?” Pick one fix you can implement by January (templates, supply layout, callback workflow, standing orders, cross-training).

7 Ways to Save Money on Almost Everything
High prices got you down? These strategies can help you reap deep discounts on everyday spending.
1. Pick up the phone. Sometimes the key to getting lower prices from providers — from insurers to cell phone carriers — is simply to call and ask for a better deal. Customer service and retention specialists are often empowered to offer discounts, experts say, and the personal interaction humanizes you, making it harder for the representative to say no.
The strategy has an impressive success rate. Among those who called their credit card issuer and asked for a better interest rate, for example, more than 80% received one, according to a recent LendingTree survey. Meanwhile, 95% of those who asked their card issuer for a break on their annual fee had the charge reduced or waived.
