RE: The Passing of John (Jack) C Stephens, DPM
With profound sorrow we announce the passing of Dr. Jack Stephens on December 12, 2024 at the age of 79. He passed peacefully in his sleep of natural causes. In 1963 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War.
Jack matriculated at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in 1973, graduating in 1977. He completed his residency in 1978. Jack was the class treasurer for all four years at OCPM. Jack began a long career in podiatric medicine in 1978. He was a team physician for the Columbus Clippers. He also worked with Medicare and the FBI as a consultant for fraud cases.

In 1976, I was beginning my third year of podiatry school, the United States was celebrating a bicentennial, Jimmy Carter was running for the presidency, many of today's practicing podiatrists were not born yet, and Carter gave an incredibly controversial interview with Playboy magazine that was published before the election.
In the interview he candidly admitted he had “…looked upon many women with lust,” and “…committed adultery in his heart.” After the election, he said these quotes almost cost him the election, but in reality, he probably edified as many voters as it alienated. Carter was a Southern Baptist deacon and was referring to the new testament Gospel of Mathew where, “ …an offending thought was equivalent to a consummated adultery.” And, Carter said, “I have committed adultery many times in my...

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is currently accepting applications for its 12-month Fellowship Program for Limb Preservation training that will begin on August 1, 2025. The UCSF Limb Preservation Fellowship educates and trains the podiatric physician as a clinically skilled podiatrist in a multidisciplinary approach to the diabetic and vascular complications of the lower extremity, as well as generating new knowledge in the treatment, management, and prevention of lower extremity amputations.
