Podiatrists’ Claims for RFC Services Didn't Comply With Medicare Regs: OIG
This audit found that 49 of 100 sampled podiatrists’ claims for routine foot care (RFC) services related to systemic conditions did not comply with Medicare requirements during the period from January 1, 2019, through December 31, 2020. Based on this sample, OIG estimates that $4.4 million of the $18.2 million paid during the audit period was improper.

The audit also determined that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS') oversight may not have been sufficient to prevent improper payments. OIG recommended that CMS work with Medicare Administrative Contractors to assess the need for additional oversight. Read The Full Report.
