RE: The Passing of Enoch Mixon, DPM
Dr. Enoch Mixon, a lifelong resident of Washington, DC, passed away peacefully at his home in Washington, DC, on July 8, 2026, at the age of 101. He graduated from the Temple University School of Chiropody in 1959. He had a thriving private practice in podiatry in Washington, DC for 30 years. His commitment to his profession also included serving on the District of Columbia Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners for thirteen years.

Dr. Mixon was a charter member of the National Podiatric Medical Association, a lifetime member of the Academy of Ambulatory Foot and Ankle Surgery, the American Podiatric Medical Association, and the District of Columbia Podiatric Medical Association. During his career, he was instrumental in training numerous podiatric residents at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Washington, DC.

RE: The Passing of James R. Hegarty, III, DPM
James R. Hegarty, III, 71 of Berkeley Township, passed from this life peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 5, 2026. He was a podiatrist and the owner and operator of Cliffside Footcare in Cliffside Park, New Jersey.
He was an avid reader, loved history, and was a simple man who enjoyed keeping active with his spouse and dogs. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

Thomas M. Sullivan, DPM, Age 97, of Oshkosh died Friday, July 3 at Aurora Medical Center. Tom served in the medical department in the U. S. Army from 1950 to 1952 with the 397th Evacuation Hospital Semimobile.

He received his PhD in microbiology from Purdue University in 1970. Following graduate school, Dr. Wright served as Assistant Dean of Pre-Clinical Education at Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine, where he helped shape the education and careers of countless podiatric physicians.

Bill knew early on that his calling was to become a podiatrist. Before fulfilling that dream, he honorably served his country as a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1957. Following his military service, he went on to graduate as Co-Valedictorian from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco in 1963.

For 32 years, he successfully led that practice, serving thousands of patients in the greater Tahoe Basin. He also opened a second office in Incline Village. Dave considered his medical practice to be his greatest accomplishment in life.

Dr. Irvin Orel, age 101, of Voorhees NJ, formerly of Lebanon, PA passed away on June 14, 2026. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific Theater of operations. Dr. Orel graduated from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine.
He practiced podiatry in Lebanon, PA for thirty-eight years. He was a member of the Pennsylvania and the American Podiatric Medical Associations.

An avid reader, world traveler, antique collector, and a life member and volunteer of the National Council of Jewish Women, Joseph was a man of many talents and tastes. He loved Cleveland sports, especially baseball and basketball, and was known for his great sense of humor and quick wit.

RE: The Passing of Ronald Lowe, DPM
Ron was a 1972 graduate of the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine, where he was a Magma Cum Laude graduate. He comes from a family of physicians, where his father and two brothers were medical doctors. He passed on 6/09/26 after a short illness in the hospital in Memphis.
Ron was a wonderful podiatrist with an infectious sense of humor who loved people and routine podiatric care. He worked at the Memphis VA for many years, and before that was in private practice in the Houston area. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Bonnie, and numerous nieces and nephews. Rest in Peace my dear friend.

David M. Ellis, DPM, age 75, died on Monday, May 25, 2026 at his home of more than 40 years in Zanesville, Ohio from complications of Parkinson's disease dementia. Dave was a graduate of the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland. Dave eventually returned to Zanesville and established his own practice, serving the communities of both his hometown and Cambridge for over 35 years until illness forced his retirement.

Dave served on the boards of the Zanesville Concert Association and the Zanesville Museum of Art, and also as president of the Zanesville Country Club. The ZCC golf course became his second home, a place where he found solace, friendship and three club championships. He had three holes in one during his playing days and in 2022 was inducted into the ZDGA Hall of Fame.

Dr. Marchelle L. Suppan of Orrville passed away Sunday, May 24, 2026 at the age of 71 after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer. Shellee was a 1980 graduate of the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine and completed a two year surgical residency program at Toledo Riverside Hospital. Shellee along with her father Ray Suppan, DPM, Sr. have trained hundreds of podiatric residents over the years at Dunlap Hospital in Orrville.

Shellee was the first female president of the Ohio Foot & Ankle Medical Association and she opened the door for many other female presidents who followed in her foot steps. After her retirement from podiatry, Shellee became the President and CEO of the Aultman Medical Group. In 2018, Shellee was inducted into the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine Hall of Fame.
