What overall grade would you give the Affordable Care Act? (Gary Smith, DPM)
What makes Dr. Adam Siegel, DPM so special?, Asks Dr. Smith I think, between Dr. Siegel and Dr. Smith there is a chasm which will not be bridged. Dr. Siegel has medical needs which, if left unfulfilled, would possibly lead to his disability and inability to work. Dr. Smith is being financially squeezed and wants to keep more of his money, as he feels the ACA insurance Dr. Siegel purchases is taking money away from his own ability to pay his children’s way through college. What a dilemma. We are back to is asking ourselves, “Is healthcare in America a right”?. Do we become our brother’s keeper here in America? Do we help the less fortunate here in America? And yes, Dr Smith, Dr. Siegel by the nature of his health would fall into the less fortunate bucket. I do not believe either of the two gentlemen above are special, or less special. It is a matter of morals, ethics and what system do you believe in. Nearly all of us believe Government is too big and spending too much. We all want something cut. But we do not want the item cut to be the one “WE” rely on, that item (say Medicare payments) is perfectly well and good. That, of course, would be just plane wrongheaded. Don’t you see. But if you cut the program the other man relies on, well he is a free loader anyways. There are decisions to be made as the resources are limited. That’s why we vote in November.
