Lawsuit Challenged Coordinated Health's Facility Fees for Foot Care
Hospitals are pocketing money from insurance companies in a passive income situation just because they are a hospital. The American Hospital Association lobby has done its job and the insurance companies pay accordingly
Meanwhile, our fees continue to be lowered bit by bit and year after year to the point where it is no longer profitable to continue to stay in business as an independent practitioner. We become beholden to practicing in a corporate setting rather than in a private one.
Yes, relative Value Units (RVU') is and has been the future and in all realty and fee-for-service is dead. Practitioners in all specialties (no matter where they are in their career) are no longer looking for a vocation, but rather an avocation which is nothing more than an occupation. No longer caring about the "fee schedule" of an insurance company, how to increase business revenue, or even stay profitable.
The only thing that matters now is how much money can one make in a year along with all the fringe benefits.
Sounds good to me!
No longer worrying about anything in the day-to- day operations of a medical practice and all that goes with running a small business. Punching in and collecting the paycheck is all that matters now.
With all the changes in health care, why even think about anything else?
The security of having financial peace in knowing that every week you will get paid regardless of possible insurance payment glitches, computer errors, patient not wanting to pay their bills.
I find this lawsuit interesting because this is no fault of the physician and and most likely is in the small print of the hospital payment policy. The hospital is now in control of making the most money along with how the future of health care is being delivered.
Corporate medicine is in the driver seat and the physician is nothing more than the passenger.
Buckle your seat belt and enjoy the ride!
