EMR Not Worth It for CA Podiatrist   

 

Dr. Bruce Manchel opened his podiatry practice 32 years ago on Tenth Street. Manchel is not retiring but will close his office in Coronado. He will continue his podiatry practice at the San Ysidro Health Center.

“I thought I had to plan and put the practice up for sale, but young kids don’t want to be in private practice anymore. I’m a dinosaur,” he said. Manchel still handles his practice the old way. He pointed out he does not keep electronic medical records and sometimes he stays behind after the office is closed for a few hours to catch up with the charts. In order to update his records and go electronic, he estimates it would cost him around $30,000.
