Who Gets Our Money? (Frank Spinosa, DPM)

First, I would like to thank Dr. Spinosa for his prompt response, and thank him for his service to
the profession. We both have a love for our
profession and are on the same side wanting the
same things. Having said that, I NEVER
"insinuated" that APMA has failed to act on behalf
of the profession. I stated "one of the reasons I
belong to the APMA is for an organization to offer
some sort of protection to our profession."

While it is admirable the APMA has "long
advocated" for the various things you mention - my
frustration evolves from the fact nothing has
changed. How many more years are we going to hear
about the Medicare SGR fix? You note APMA has
provided many public comments to various entities
in the Government...but, many things have not
changed! In light of this, I keep asking myself is
this the only mechanism to evoke change?? (Perhaps
it is...and I am completely naive.)

You conclude that APMA couldn't agree more with my
call for public outcry. So what's the plan? If
less than 5% of APMA members respond to E-Advocacy
then the APMA has a broken system! What's the plan
to fix it? Do we have a plan?

Two years ago at the New York House of Delegates,
it was I that brought to the attention of the APMA
that E-advocacy did not work on mobile devices.
APMA should of known that before I did. Perhaps,
people have tried to E-advocate and after it did
not work they just plain stopped?? I have made it
known year after year that at every major
podiatric conference when doctors are waiting on
line to register or leave the conference they be
 asked to E-advocate.

I am not sure if that would make a difference, but
at least I recognize the APMA's e-advocacy program
as broken and offer some sort of solution. I would
welcome any thoughts from any APMA members or NON
members on what they see as critical issues we are
facing and any ideas to possibly implement for our
profession to stay on course so that it could be
 the best profession there is.
