Query: Hill Podiatry Chairs

I am in the process of purchasing podiatry chairs and I know there has been discussion in the past regarding Hill chairs. My understanding is that Hill has made some improvements. I am interested in hearing the pros and cons from those doctors who have personally used Hill chairs over the past few years.

Query: Recommendations for Securing Small Business Loans

I am currently at the beginning of my 3rd year of residency training looking to purchase an existing podiatry practice upon my completion of residency. Can any colleague share any insight or advice to the following questions - what banks or lenders have you successfully used in the past for securing a loan for private practice? Any problems, denials, or things you wish someone would have shared with you when you were at the beginning of your career? I am sure several 3rd year residents who are currently mulling over career options following residency will appreciate your replies.

Query: Source for Steel Toe Caps

Does anyone know of a manufacturer of steel toe caps? My patient requires a custom-molded steel toe shoe, but Jerry Miller shoes does not have a cap to fit his size.

Query: Internet Reviews

I would like to know how podiatry offices are obtaining positive Internet reviews from their patients. I am new to this and not sure how to approach patients. What information should I give to them?

Query: Sudoscan

I just spoke to a reputable sales rep about the Sudoscan machine for detection of peripheral neuropathy. I think the test is easy to do and does decisively test, both quantitatively and qualitatively, the dysfunction of sweat glands. The test does what it says it does, and also seems billable to insurance companies, but is this a test DPMs should perform? Is this a screening test for sweat glands and just a test that only INFERS peripheral nerve dysfunction? If there is a result which requires a referral to a specialist, whom do we refer to? I would like anyone familiar with the unit to answer these questions.

Query: Billing Software for Nursing Home Patients

We are in the process of setting up a new podiatry S Corp that will only see patients in a nursing home setting. We are looking for a recommendation for billing software as we want to keep our billing in-house. We will not need a complete EHR system as there will be no in-office patients.

Query: HSA and Laser

Is the use of laser treatment for fungus nails a payable expense under a patient's HSA? I have seen several different opinions about whether or not this is considered a cosmetic procedure and thus, according to the IRS, a non-deducible medical expense and therefore a non-covered item.
