RESPONSES/COMMENTS (YOU CAN'T MAKE THESE THINGS UP)
From: Irv Luftig, DPM
I’ve known Dr. Hartley Miltchin for over 40 years. He has spent his entire career amassing an incredibly eclectic, unique, and probably priceless shoe collection that his patients can enjoy while attending his office, at the Toronto Bata Shoe Museum, and I’m sure in a secret vault somewhere. I personally feel that Dr. Miltchin has done more to advance podiatry in Canada than anyone before him through his expertise in minimally invasive foot surgery, his presence in all the local and national media, and all his years of organizing and running the OPMA’s annual conferences.
Dr. Miltchin has taught a generation of podiatrists in Canada and the United States the unique skills required to carry on minimally invasive procedures in our offices (along with previous pioneers before him). It is generally a difficult, thankless job. I would personally like to thank him for being an inspiration to those of us in Ontario whose practices would have been so much more difficult and much less rewarding in this unique climate without him. Hartley, kudos and thank you for your indelible contribution to podiatry and for all the enjoyment we get from your incredible shoe collection.

RE: Bedside Manners
Many years ago, I made a house call on an old woman with a wicked sense of humor. When I knocked on the door, she told me to come right in and when I got there, she called out that she was in the bedroom and asked if I could care for her in there. No problem, as I sat at the foot of the bed and started working. As I worked, her phone rang. She picked it up and said "I can't talk to you now. I have a man in my bed" and hung up as I doubled over laughing.

RE: Patients Say the Darnest Things
An elderly male patient came in today with an ingrown toenail. During the procedure, he commented that "this was really easy compared to his hysterectomy, as that was a really painful procedure!"
