Armstrong Slated to be The First Podiatrist in Space

NASA has announced that they have selected David G. Armstrong, DPM, Ph.D to be part of their “researchers in space” program. Armstrong is presently Professor of Surgery, Chair of Research, and Associate Dean of the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University. “Dr. Armstrong has already circled the globe many times promoting diabetes research,” said Leonard N. Spock, NASA’s Administrator, “so we have decided that he would be the ideal candidate for a planned research mission.

NASA first became aware of Dr. Armstrong when they received a letter from his famous Uncle, Neil , who was the first man to step foot on the moon. Dr. Armstrong exclaimed “I’m honored and thrilled to have been selected for this prestigious honor. I look forward to this unprecedented opportunity to raise the world’s awareness of an important issue.”

Dr. Armstrong will begin his intensive physical training in Houston, Texas this summer under the direction of his cousin, 7-time Tour de France winner Lance. Asked about anything unique that he plans to bring with him on his space mission, Dr. Armstrong noted that he will take a Semmes-Weinstein monofilament and a trumpet left to him by his great uncle Louie Satchmo.
