No Socks, No Entry at Royal Ascot

 

Men who wear shoes without socks may be refused entry to the Royal Ascot this summer under new rules. For decades, Ascot has been renowned for its strict dress code, and this year, male attendees have been warned that they could be unceremoniously turned away if they arrive without socks.

Last year, the College of Podiatry warned that they were seeing a rise in the number of 18-25 year-old men who were suffering from fungal infections. This was directly linked to the increase in young men wearing shoes without socks and ill-fitting shoes. Not wearing socks causes sweat to seep into the shoe's leather, which then turns the inside of the boot into a breeding ground for bacteria.
