PODIATRISTS IN THE MILITARY
NC Podiatrist Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel
Maj. Deanna Estelle Duran was promoted Feb. 9 to lieutenant colonel in a ceremony at the Womack Medical Center in Fort Bragg, NC, where Dr. Duran is chief of podiatry. Duran entered the Army as an officer in 2008 after having previously served as an enlisted combat medic assigned to a combat aviation unit in Hanau, Germany. Her duty assignments as an active duty officer include chief of podiatry at Fort Sill, OK (2008-12), chief of podiatry at Fort Bliss, TX (2012-14), and chief of podiatry and residency director at Joint Base Lewis McCord, WA (2014-17).

She graduated from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco and completed her civilian residency programs at Brooklyn Hospital, New York Community Hospital, Brooklyn, and Mercy Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Duran is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and is board certified in foot and reconstructive rear foot and ankle surgery.
