| PRACTICE MANAGEMENT TIP OF THE DAY | |
Strategic Options for Physicians Facing Challenges in Private Medical Practice
Here are some strategic options for physician practices to consider in this evolving, competitive market:
2. Transact with a practice management platform that is backed by a reputable family office with a track record of success with physicians.
Investment groups funded by very wealthy families, often referred to as “family offices”, have also been active in partnering with physicians. The pros of partnering with a family office are that they have a longer-term investment outlook (e.g., 10 years or more) and generally are perceived to be more deferential to physicians and otherwise being more “physician-friendly.”

| FINANCIAL TIP OF THE DAY | |
Year-End Tax Planning Can Protect You From a Big Tax Bill
On individual tax planning, look at the overall impact on 2025 and 2026. The goal is to reduce your federal tax liability over both years, not just one.
3. Medical Expenses: If your medical expenses have topped or are near the 7.5% of adjusted-gross-income (AGI) threshold, consider incurring more medical costs before year-end. Check out IRS Publication 502.
The list of eligible medical expenses is broader than you think. It includes doctor and dentist bills, hospital stays, glasses and hearing aids, health insurance, the unreimbursed costs of long-term care, and many home improvements to accommodate a disability or illness.

| CODING & BILLING Q&As FROM CODINGHELPLINE.COM | |
Query: Billing HCPCS L4360?
I heard I should bill HCPCS Code L4360 for a pneumatic boot. Why is this usually not the case?
Codinghelpline com Subscriber
Response from Codinghelpline.com: Yes, most providers (MD DO DPM CPed CO or CPO) do not custom fit pneumatic CAM walkers. When they do, they must document both what they did to make a pre-fabricated device unique to fit only one individual, and must state that their training allows them to perform those adjustments.

RE: Dealing with Stress
From: Richard Willner, DPM
This column is the most practical advice I have seen and "burnout" is a huge issue. Lots of articles on "burnout" and "stress". They are good but, they do not solve the problem. Sharon Grossman is the real deal. Smart. Effective. Experienced.

| RESPONSES/COMMENTS (THE FUTURE OF PODIATRY) | |
RE: De-Extinction (John S. Steinberg, DPM)
From: H. David Gottlieb, DPM
Beginning with the early years of PM News, there have been naysayers lamenting the demise of the podiatric profession. At one time, I was one of them. On this Thanksgiving evening, I am thankful that all the gloom and doom has been for naught.
As Dr. John Steinberg, and others, have pointed out our graduating residents work in every practice setting there is: independent, group single-specialty, multi-specialty, as part of orthopedic practices, hospital, clinic, and others as befit their training and desired setting. They command high salaries, even those who opt for nursing home centered care. They also chair committees where they work and/or...
