FCNY Pediatric Patients Receive 200 MLB Backpacks and School Supplies
On September 30, 2024, Michael Trepal, DPM and Joel Sturm, COO of The Foot Clinics of New York (FCNY) and New York College of Podiatric Medicine received a donation of 200 Major League Baseball (MLB) Backpacks, school supplies from Heavenly Productions Foundation (HPF), snacks, and waters donated by Ace Endico for the Clinic’s pediatric patients.

MCHF Holds 10th Annual Complications/Wound Care Course
Last weekend in Naperville, Illinois, the Morrison Community Hospital Foundation (MCHF) was able to celebrate 10 successful years of providing quality education to podiatrists and podiatric medical assistants. The course, which provided education to over 80 doctors, provided didactic lectures in the morning with cadaveric specimens in the afternoon. ALL proceeds from the event benefited the hospital's foundation.

"This course has become an annual event for many of our attendees," states David Yeager, DPM, course chairperson and Chief of Staff at the hospital. Podiatrists Rank #30 on Highest-Paying Jobs List
As the scramble to retain employees eases, fewer companies plan to give raises in 2024 compared to 2023. Of all the companies surveyed by Payscale for its 2024 Compensation Best Practices Report, 79% said they would offer salary increases, a drop from 86% and significantly lower than the 92% reported in 2022. In 2024, the average pay increase was also down 0.3 percentage points to 4.5%.

High-deductible health plans are on the rise. Here are 10 methods to ensure your practice collects from patients with these plans.
3. Know in advance what your patients will owe.
This step is critical. We are re-training patients who have been educated by all of us to only bring a co-pay to every visit. For patients with existing balances or whose services will drop straight to their deductible, we must let them know before the service how much they must pay.

RE: The Passing of Errol Allen Schoenbrun, DPM
Dr. Errol Allen Schoenbrun, 87, passed away after health struggles on Friday, September 27, 2024, surrounded by family. He went to podiatric medical school at The Ohio School of Chiropody in Cleveland and became a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. He opened his first podiatry practice in Las Cruces, NM and soon moved to El Paso, TX where he opened several offices during his lifetime of treating patients.

RE: It’s Time to Unionize

This is a post I saw on “X” (formerly Twitter). This is the guy medicine needs to be run by. In the past year I saw two unions get 40 percent raises for their members. Now, the Longshoreman’s union that controls the East Coast ports is on strike. I guarantee you they will get what they want. Then, I think of podiatry. I am being paid less for CPT codes then when I started in 1996. Cost of goods has gone up exponentially.
Doctors need to create unions. If a tradesman is allowed to “cripple” the country, then doctors have rights to be heard and given fair wages too.

There are several additional points one should understand when it comes to RAC and TPE. You are not being targeted; it is the code which is being audited and you have been the "lucky" one selected from a batch of several thousand claims.
Second and most important: A colleague from another healthcare profession and I recently commiserated on our experiences with unjustifiable denials as a result of RAC audits. We have both concluded that these judgments are stacked against the provider because the financial health of the RAC agency is wholly dependent on...
